Tour Plan

1
DAY 1-Arrival to Lisbon
This day will show you some highlights of the picturesque city of Lisbon. Early in the morning, you will have time to visit downtown Lisbon. Visit some of its most important monuments, such as the Monastery of Jerónimos and Belém Tower, and enjoy the famous "pastéis de belém." A transfer will pick you up from Lisbon and take you to Porto Covo.  Overnight stay in Porto Covo.

2
DAY 2 - Porto Covo | Vila Nova de Milfontes (20km / 12 mi)
Your journey begins on a stretch of beach, where you will walk along the vast dune area of the beaches of Ilha do Pessegueiro, Aivados and Malhão.  Overnight stay in Vila Nova de Milfontes.

3
DAY 3 - Vila Nova de Milfontes | Almograve (15 km / 9 mi)
This is a day to purify your soul with the overwhelming views of Vila Nova de Milfontes and the Mira River, which meets the ocean here. This is a short and accessible hiking day so you can fully enjoy the area. Crossing the bridge over the river in Vila Nova de Milfontes offers breathtaking views of the river mouth. There are stretches along this part of the coast where the native vegetation shows all its diversity and other areas where it has been destroyed and wiped out by a very aggressive exotic plant: the Acacia.  Overnight stay in Almograve.

4
DAY 4 - Almograve | Zambujeira do Mar (22km / 13 mi)
The high cliffs you will see during this part of the trip, despite being exposed to constant ocean winds, are the nesting grounds of more than twenty species of birds! These include the jackdaw, tufted warbler, common kestrel, "pure" turtle dove, white stork, peregrine falcon, and swallowtail. If you look closely along this coastal stretch, it is easy to see the traces of past climate changes etched into the rocks.  Overnight stay in Zambujeira do Mar.

5
DAY 5 - Zambujeira do Mar | Odeceixe (18km / 11 mi)
You will pass through the beaches of Alteirinhos, Carvalhal, Machados and Amália on the way to Azenha do Mar, where you will find a natural fishing port.  Overnight stay in Odeceixe.

6
DAY 6 - Odeceixe - Aljezur (22km | 14mi)
Today you will walk along the Mira irrigation canal, fed by the waters of the Santa Clara Dam. You can see for miles around you, with mountains to the east and ocean to the west. You will have a choice of two complementary circuits that will take you to the coastal cliffs and introduce you to the beaches of Odeceixe and Amoreira.  Overnight stay in Aljezur.

7
DAY 7 - Aljezur - Ponta da Atalaia circuit - Arrifana (20km | 13mi)
Today you will cross scented valleys and small farms as you approach the coast, already guessing where the route will take you over the next few days. The way out of the village allows you to admire the valley of the Aljezur River, which extends to Amoreira Beach, and to imagine what Aljezur would have looked like in the 15th century. You will pass by an extension of the Fisherman's Trail, the Ponta da Atalaia circuit, and walk past the beach of Monte Clérigo and the mythical Ponta da Atalaia. In a place marked by the power of legends and the time of the Portuguese conquest by the Moors, this walk is a real journey back in time.  Overnight stay in Arrifana.

8
DAY 8 - Arrifana - Carrapateira (24km | 15mi)
In this section you will accompany the Historic Route, with the constant and simultaneous presence of the hills and the sea, unspoiled nature and the unique presence of man. Pedra da Agulha, seen from Canal beach, the vast sandy expanse of Vale Figueira, revealed at low tide, and a succession of hills and valleys confirm the more aggressive and inaccessible side of this coastal area. Upon arrival, you will have a privileged view of the dunes of Bordeira beach and the inlet that meets the ocean there, in a scenario that repeats endlessly and characterizes the beaches of the Costa Vicentina.  Overnight stay in the village of Carrapateira.

9
DAY 9 - Carrapateira - Vila do Bispo (22 km | 14mi)
After a magnificent view of Bordeira beach, the beauty of the unspoiled valleys where you can barely feel human presence, the picturesque villages of Vilarinha and Pedralva, you will be ready to face the strong winds that are expected upon arrival in Vila do Bispo. A section where you can experience the essence of the Costa Vicentina. When you cross the perimeter of the Vila do Bispo forest, proceed calmly and use your binoculars, as sightings of wildlife, particularly birds, are likely.  Overnight stay in Vila do Bispo.

10
DAY 10 - Vila do Bispo - Cape of São Vicente - Sagres (19km | 12mi)
You will walk to the southwestern tip of Europe. This is a magical place where you can almost hear the echo of the voices of sailors and pilgrims. Monumental cliffs, exceptional coastal views and a prime area to observe the natural phenomenon of autumn bird migration. You will follow an extension of the fisherman's trail, the Telheiro beach circuit, with monumental cliffs, ravines covered with native vegetation, ancient rock formations, and a memorable arrival at Cape St. Vincent via the Fisherman's trails.  End your journey through Portugal's southwest coast in an unforgettable way.  Overnight stay in Sagres.
