Azore Island trekking tour

Discover two unique paradises in the Azores islands: Flores and Corvo. 

Flores, included in the prestigious UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves, is a scenic wonder with its rugged coastline, waterfalls, lakes and ponds. In addition to its natural beauty, the island offers a warm welcome.

Corvo, the smallest of the nine islands, is a volcanic treasure with its picturesque settlement of Vila Nova do Corvo. Dark stone facades, cobblestone streets, and craft traditions create a unique atmosphere. On the way to Caldeirão, the main attraction, admire stone walls, hydrangea hedges, and basalt “palheiros.” 

Flores and Corvo invite you to experience an unforgettable adventure in an enchanted corner of the ocean.

 

DURATION: 8 days / 7 nights.

TYPE OF TRIP: Trekking tour with private vehicle transfers, local guide in english and overnight stays in hotels 3* with breakfast.

SUITABLE TO: Anyone who is in good health, able to cope with walks of about 4 hours-10 km (the program can be customized and modified according to your level of experience).

RECOMMENDED PERIOD: from April to October

1
1st day : Arrival in Flores
Depending on arrival time in Flores, accommodation in hotel or apartments (subject to availability), time at disposal.  Free dinner and overnight stay. Meals: not included

2nd day : Waterfalls trekking
Meeting with your guide at your accommodation around 09:30 am, a day dedicated to exploring the many natural waterfalls on the island. A trek that will allow you to discover and explore the hidden waterfalls of Flores Island, enjoy breathtaking views and crystal clear waters. (Ribeira do Coscalho Waterfall - Ribeira Grande Waterfall - Ribeira do Cão Waterfall - Ribeira José Fraga Waterfalls) Lunch box and return to hotel/apartment late afternoon (5:30 pm). Free dinner and overnight stay. Meals : -/L/-  Km: 9/10 D+: approximately 650 m

3rd day : Flores - Visit to the island of Corvo - Flores
Meet with staff at 08:30 am to reach the stopover at the semi-rigid boat in Corvo with passage through caves and waterfalls on the coast of Flores, arrival on Corvo Island and transfer to reach and visit Caldeirão. Self-catering lunch with drink and coffee included. Free time at leisure and return by boat in the afternoon to return to Flores at the village of Santa Cruz das Flores, the main village on Flores Island, where you can have dinner at a typical restaurant before returning for overnight stay.  Meals : -/L/- Km: 8

4th day : Flores - Trekking among the ruins and nature - Flores
Meeting with the guide scheduled for 09:00 am, the trek begins in the church of Lajedo, renowned for its beautiful bay. Green tones and crystal clear waters are a constant presence on this trail. Your accompanying guide will allow you to appreciate the endemic species and the main historical facts of the island. A tasting of typical island dishes is provided for lunch, including drinks, coffee and dessert. At the end of the day you will return to the planned accommodation, free dinner and overnight stay.  Meals : -/L/- Km: 8

5th day : Flores - Trekking of the 4 lakes - Flores
Meeting with the guide scheduled for 09:00 am, the trail begins in one of the most beautiful places on the island of Flores, exactly between Caldeira Negra and Comprida. After contemplating this magnificent place, the trek begins that will take us to Fajã Grande. The day will be spent immersed in nature, among endemic flora and fauna and breathtaking views, a lunch box is included in the excursion and you can freely choose where to stop for the scenic picnic. Return in the early afternoon, free time and overnight stay.  Meals : -/L/- Km: 8

6th day : Flores - Fanais - Flores
Meeting with the guide for 09:00 am, the day starts in the quiet church of Punta Delgada, you will face a unique trail with very interesting views such as Albernaz Lighthouse, Corvo and also the little island of Monchique. A hike full of natural wonders with a picnic lunch. Return in the afternoon at the end of the trek, transfer to the planned accommodation, free dinner and overnight stay.  Meals : -/L/- Km: 8

Day 8 : Departure from Flores
Based on agreed directions and schedule, final transfer to airport for return to Italy.  Meals : not included
